I have just completed a week on Firebird. The boat is older than most Liveaboards, but is kept is kept immaculate, clean and up to date. You will not find a dirty spot or somewhere that needs painting on the boat.
The cabins are small, but if all you do in them is sleep and shower, they are big enough. The storage in the cabins is small, but you should take next to nothing apart from dive equipment with you.
There are eight crew and two guides for up to sixteen divers. The crew are like a family and muck in together to help you. A much more personal and friendly atmosphere than larger boats.
The food is excellent and the chef is fantastic at making special meals (I am a vegetarian).
If there is one fault, that is there could be a few more power points in the salon.
I highly recommend and will return

As I arrived at 6 AM with only my hand luggage - my luggage with diving gear was still in Istambul- guide Hassan immediatly came to the rescue and fixed me a whole set within one hour so we could leave in time for an amazing week. Great service, great boat, great crew, great dives with top of the bill +28 hammerheads @ Daedalus...dive -eat-sleep-repe at...;-)

18th to 25th Aug 2011, FireBird, Brothers, Daedalus. I would like to thank Deep Blue Cruises, and especially Kathrin (our guide) and the whole crew of the MV Firebird for a great week on my first Safari. I was very impressed so where do I start? Everything was organised (thanks Ina), from the vehicle pickup at the beginning to the airport drop off at the end. The organisation on board, the boat briefings, the facilities on-board and the bunkrooms etc. were brilliant. The crew were always friendly and helpful and a special thanks to the chefs for the meals, they were fantastic. My compliments to them all. I don?t speak German and even though all the other guests were German nationals, I was always given a separate English language briefing whether it was for the boat or for the dives. The dives were good, generally 3 a day and we saw many interesting fish and corals, in particular, the several sightings of sharks (Hammerhead and grey Reef) and the ?biggest oldest heaviest? turtle in the world. All the journeys between the dive sites were smooth thanks to the good weather. It really was a great week and I would recommend it to anyone, and yes, I would go again. Thanks again to all, regards Bill Sharp
